MyFlight

01. Overview

MyFlight is a critical mobile app used by United Airlines flight attendants to manage in-flight operations efficiently. From tracking passenger counts and cabin discrepancies to raising maintenance tickets and accessing aircraft information, the app serves as a centralized tool for daily flight operations. Additionally, MyFlight provides passenger insights through integration with United’s MileagePlus program, allowing flight attendants to recognize frequent flyers, celebrate milestones, and enhance customer experience.

I was brought in to refine and enhance the app’s functionality, working closely with United’s Senior Leadership team to introduce exclusive features while ensuring alignment with United’s broader operational goals.

02. Development

My contributions to MyFlight included a mix of UI updates, executive feature development, and in-flight connectivity tools:

  • UI Enhancements & Leadership Features – Updated backgrounds and interface elements to align with United’s evolving brand standards, while collaborating with Senior Leadership to implement exclusive features tailored for executives.
  • In-Flight WiFi Tester – Developed a real-time WiFi diagnostic tool, similar to Speedtest.net, enabling flight attendants to identify connectivity issues, troubleshoot onboard WiFi, and facilitate customer refunds when necessary.
  • Enhanced Seat Map Accessibility – Improved seat map usability by introducing color coding and graphical indicators to provide additional passenger details, such as frequent flyer status, special service requests, and recent milestones. A legend system was also incorporated, ensuring flight attendants could quickly reference and interpret the information at a glance.

    • These improvements ensured that MyFlight remained an essential, high-functioning tool, empowering flight attendants with better operational efficiency, passenger insights, and in-flight connectivity solutions.

    03. Lessons Learned

    Although my time with MyFlight was brief, its impact on flight attendants' efficiency and passenger experience was clear. Every time I fly with United, I continue to observe, gather feedback, and share insights with the MyFlight team to help drive future improvements. As one of the most vital tools for flight attendants, MyFlight should remain a top priority for United Airlines, with ongoing enhancements ensuring seamless in-flight operations and exceptional customer experiences.
